Call to Order

Secretary Sidna Madden Trimmel called the meeting to order at 9 am

Introductions and Welcome:

Public Comments: The Oklahoma City Mayor’s Committee on Disability Concerns welcomes citizens comments at the beginning of each meeting. Comments shall be limited to three (3) minutes and citizens must sign in at least five (5) minutes before the meeting is scheduled to begin. Citizens that are not committee members are not permitted to participate in regular meeting discussion. By signing up for comments, you acknowledge the commenting procedures of the committee.

  • Sent March’s Minutes for approval

  • Ending balance $6,053.83 no change from last month.

Reports from Emergency Management and City ADA Coordinator

Emergency Management – Lt. Bryan Taylor / Capt. Audrea George

  • Getting plans together for the Marathon, working with partners to have everything in place. Looks like 19,000 racers have signed up. It will be a two day event.

City ADA Coordinator – Keith Wilkinson

  • We’re doing 59th and Penn. There’s a Senior Housing there. And there were no accessible crossings at that intersection. They were just doing the intersection. I convince them to go south right in front of set of Walgreens and across that drive to the bus stop.
  • Southeast of 59th and Penn is planned to do sidewalk.
  • Bus Rapid Transit, starting to move along.
  • OKC policy for domed sidewalks on driveways are they must be signalized drives.
  • Adult changing stations: That is going into the building code. They are going in the new projects at the Zoo.

Barrier-Free Design — Scott Ellis

  • Need to give Keith credit for making the city much better.
  • we have come so far in the city, thanks to Keith, planning department and plan reviews.

Outreach/Public Relations — Herb Bailey/Liz Scheffe

  • Posting items on Facebook

Emergency Response — Ken Wyatt

  • No report/no severe weather

Membership Review —Lori Wathen

  • Voted on new members last month and Kyle King is on his first meeting.

New Business

  • None

  • Keith Wilkinson – Traffic Commission – standard ADA parking spaces passed
  • Heather Hancock – Embark – transportation.

Announcements from Members

  • May 4th and 5th hosting a 9 ball wheelchair invitation at Slick Willies .
  • SoonerSuccess and OKIPSE OK/TX Summit for post secondary college program
  • In June SoonerSuccess a fitness camp at the Girl’s Scout Camp
  • SoonerSuccess Sib Shop at the end of June
  • World Series of Beep Baseball will be in Norman this Summer.
