Chair Sidna Madden Trimmel called the meeting to order at 9:02 am

Introductions and Welcome:

Public Comments: The Oklahoma City Mayor’s Committee on Disability Concerns welcomes citizens comments at the beginning of each meeting. Comments shall be limited to three (3) minutes and citizens must sign in at least five (5) minutes before the meeting is scheduled to begin. Citizens that are not committee members are not permitted to participate in regular meeting discussion. By signing up for comments, you acknowledge the commenting procedures of the committee.

  • Found a problem with the pedestrian bridge – the wheelchair ramp was to steep – the City will have the contractor fix the issue.
  • Willa Johnson Center – new facility was inspected.

  • Kyle King is attending his 3 meeting and Greg Morgan is interested in joining but wasn’t able to attend today.

New Business

  • Lori asked if the Committee would sponsor Sooner Success’ Fall Festival on September 23rd from 11-2pm with a $300 donation for food.
    • Keith Wilkinson moved that we donate $300 for the festival.
    • Scott Ellis seconded.
    • Motion passed unanimously.

Reports from Members on Boards and Commissions

  • Sidna Trimmel told the committee that the new assignments were sent to the Mayor’s secretary.
  • Marilyn Dillon reported on the EMBARK / COTPA
  • Lori Wathen reported the Park Commission cancelled their meeting
  • Jackie Haverly reported the Zoo Trust was still waiting for their elevator and the Library Commission is next week.

Announcements from Members

  • Sooner Success is having Pool party @ west wood in Moore and one at Earlywine Park for parents with children with disabilities. The pool will only be open for them.
  • Hearing Loss Association of Oklahoma City will host a free movie experience at a theatre with a loop on July 20. The movie is CODA.
  • Adjourn: Next MCDC Meeting – Aug 9, at 9 am; in person or via zoom.
