Call to Order

Vice Chair Adam Lane called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m.

Introductions and Welcome:

Public Comments: The Oklahoma City Mayor’s Committee on Disability Concerns welcomes citizens comments at the beginning of each meeting. Comments shall be limited to three (3) minutes and citizens must sign in at least five (5) minutes before the meeting is scheduled to begin. Citizens that are not committee members are not permitted to participate in regular meeting discussion. By signing up for comments, you acknowledge the commenting procedures of the committee.

  • Attend Sooner Success Fall Festival

  • All Rapid Transit stops were inspected, only minor issues found.
  • NW Expressway bridge still closed
  • PROAG was codified – no big changes for the City

  • Greg Morgan is here for his second meeting.

Awards committee – Scott Ellis

  • Scott thanked Joy and Ken for working on the committee
  • The Mayor will present the awards on Oct. 24

New Business

  • None

Reports from Members on Boards and Commissions

  • Lori Wathen – Parks Commission Mtg – nothing on new on disability, gave a report on their Adaptive Program that had about 15 participants
  • Marilyn Dillon – EMBARK has 2 new grants – one is for new buses and a new Transit Center and the other is for a new EMBARK building
    • EMBARK Norman will be getting a new transit center
    • NW BRT launching with be in December.

Announcements from Members

  • If you wish to give announcements, we ask that you send in the details of the event – so they can be added to the agenda and members don’t have to take notes. You will still be given the opportunity to speak about the event.
  • Oct. 13, 2023 – 11 am to noon, White Cane Safety Day, walk around downtown, meet at Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library located at 300 Park Avenue.
  • Oct. 17, 2023 – 10 am to 3 pm, DRS Anniversary Celebration, 3535 NW 58th Street, parking lot.
  • Oct. 24, 2023 City Council Meeting for Awards and Photo with the Mayor – Sidna Trimmell arrive before 8 am for the photo with the Mayor.
  • Oct. 30, 2023 OKC Parks Trunk or Treak at Sellers Park from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Nov. 2 Oklahoma City Care Giver Conference Statewide. – virtual in the morning and in person in the afternoon.

Adjourn: Next MCDC Meeting – Nov. 8, at 9 am; in person at the Oklahoma City Central Maintenance Facility Training Center, 3738 SW 15th St, Building 3, Oklahoma City, OK 73108.
