Call to Order

Chair Sidna Madden called the meeting to order at 9:01 am

Introductions and Welcome:

The committee introduced themselves.

Public Comments: The Oklahoma City Mayor’s Committee on Disability Concerns welcomes citizens comments at the beginning of each meeting. Comments shall be limited to three (3) minutes and citizens must sign in at least five (5) minutes before the meeting is scheduled to begin. Citizens that are not committee members are not permitted to participate in regular meeting discussion. By signing up for comments, you acknowledge the commenting procedures of the committee.

  • Mayor Holt discussed the awards giving out at the Oct City Council Meeting.
  • Any one want to be the Parliamentarian?

Reports from Emergency Management and City ADA Coordinator

Emergency Management – Frank Barnes

  • Mosquitos abundant – no West Nile Virus in OKC, City is testing for them, trying to eliminate larva
  • CoVid – steady upward trend in cases, mainly in Eastern Oklahoma but will work its way to OKC. 99% of hospitalized are unvaccinated, do know the vaccines work on the Delta variant,

City ADA Coordinator – Keith Wilkinson

  • Getting back to normal, seeing more request for checking out ADA violations, new initiative a department had a TDD phone not working anymore – there are multiple options like Relay. Develop a platform that will go across the city departments.

  • Needs to get with everyone and schedule appointment

  • Did a couple of reviews on parking lots. They were done correctly.

  • Lori: Audra Beesly is having problems with a new soccer field where there was no curb cuts. Keith Wilkenson will look into.

Reports from Members on Boards and Commissions

  • EMBARK: fixed route buses lowered the capacity during Covid – we are currently at ½ capacity. Still require masks. No missed days of services during Covid. Missed during October ice storm and February ice storm.
  • Moved homeless during ice storms to warming center
  • 7-6 launched victims of crime receive free services

Riverfront – Ken

  • Nothing ADA going on

Career Tech – Vera

  • New Convention Center wasn’t ADA ready and the Career Tech had to go somewhere else for their meetings

  • Marilyn: EMBARK ribbon cutting at 11:30 for Riverfront landing.
