Call to Order

Secretary Sidna Madden Trimmel called the meeting to order at 9:03 am

Introductions and Welcome:

Public Comments: The Oklahoma City Mayor’s Committee on Disability Concerns welcomes citizens comments at the beginning of each meeting. Comments shall be limited to three (3) minutes and citizens must sign in at least five (5) minutes before the meeting is scheduled to begin. Citizens that are not committee members are not permitted to participate in regular meeting discussion. By signing up for comments, you acknowledge the commenting procedures of the committee.

  • This Joy Turner’s third meeting At the September Meeting we will vote on her membership

Strategic Planning — Larry Hopper 

  • OHC Disability Exhibit closes August 31. They are wanting to interview people with disabilities. Due to liability issues needs we can’t go forward with moving the OHC displays to City Hall.

  • Mark your calendar: October 11 City Council Meeting for the reading of the Proclamation, Awards Presentations and Photo with Mayor – Sidna Madden-Trimmel
  • Sooner Success’ fall festival health fair for Oct 1 from 11-2 pm at OUHSC. Would like MCDC want to volunteer, have booth and/or possibly sponsor some food/drinks? They are looking for sponsors to pay for the $450 lunch bill – Lori Wathen 
    • Jackie Haverly moved to give $300 for food to the fall festival.
    • Ken Wyatt seconded.
    • Motion passed; Lori Wathen abstained.

Reports from Members on Boards and Commissions

  • Zoo Trust – building admin building and African exhibit – Jackie Haverly
  • Traffic and Transportation – Main street Western to Penn that will be going to two lane with a bike lane – Keith W. went down there to check on disability parking and making sure there was the right number of space still available. – Keith Wilkinson
  • The Park and Library did not have a meeting in July – Lori Wathen
