Secretary Sidna Madden Trimmel called the meeting to order at 9:02 am
Introductions and Welcome:
Public Comments: The Oklahoma City Mayor’s Committee on Disability Concerns welcomes citizens comments at the beginning of each meeting. Comments shall be limited to three (3) minutes and citizens must sign in at least five (5) minutes before the meeting is scheduled to begin. Citizens that are not committee members are not permitted to participate in regular meeting discussion. By signing up for comments, you acknowledge the commenting procedures of the committee.

Reports from Emergency Management and City ADA Coordinator
Emergency Management – David Storer
- Police gave out gifts to children.
City ADA Coordinator – Keith Wilkinson
- Held an inspector’s ADA class (same class he does for contractors)
- City projects – Paeso District repaving from building face to building face. Should be great for sidewalk access.
- Southern Oaks new bridge (Walker and SW 70th)
- Foster Kids: 2 kids with disabilities were identified as needing gifts for Christmas.
- Dana Tallon moved we buy presents for each kid spending up to $250 per kid.

Convene as 2023 Annual Meeting
Keith Wilkinson moved we convene into the Annual Meeting. Adam Lane seconded the motion.
Annual Reports
ADA Workshop — Sidna Madden
- No workshop in 2023 – no report.
Barrier-Free Design — Scott Ellis
- Over the past year we have seen a decline in requests for inspections and assistance. I think the reason for this is the Plan Review team for the city are taking great care to ensure accessibility. Scott did 27 courtesy inspections mainly for parking and ramp access.
Outreach/Public Relations — Herb Bailey/Liz Scheffe
- As outreach subcommittee chair, Liz Scheffe tried to promote the committee in the community. She also posts items on the MCDC Facebook page that would be of interest to persons that have a disability or work with persons with a disability. She encouraged members of the committee to send me information to share on social media.
Emergency Response — Ken Wyatt
- No report/no severe weather
Membership Review —Lori Wathen
- We had 3 new members (Cal Bryant, Linda Bryant and Kyle King) join the committee in 2023 and 1 (Greg Morgan) to be voted on in this meeting.

- Adam Lane moved that we accept Greg Morgan to the committee. Keith Wilkinson seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Reports from Members on Boards and Commissions
- Keith Wilkinson attended the Traffic and Transportation meeting – discussed a couple of handicapped spaces.
- Larry Hopper attended the Trails Advisory Meeting – Deep Fork Creek should be open this year.
- Lori Wathen attended OKC Parks Department. They held a Nature Hike for people with disabilities at Martin Nature Park.
Announcements from Members
- Lori Wathen reported that Night to Shine has been moved to the south side and is limited to 200 guest on Feb. 9th.
